Lancaster Jail Jail Location – Managed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Lancaster Jail facility temporarily holds both men and women who have been arrested, providing short-term housing until they are either released on their own recognizance, post bail, or appear in court for their arraignment. This facility holds a total of 54 inmates and serves as a small holding station for offenses such as $50,000.00 Domestic Violence arrests in the Lancaster area, DUI accidents with bail amounts reaching $100,000.00, and criminal felony charges with bail set at $50,000.00. Male inmates who require further detention may be transferred to larger jails within Los Angeles County, such as the Twin Towers Correctional Facility or Men’s Central Jail. Female inmates may be moved to the Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) if extended custody is necessary.

After an arrest at Lancaster Jail, detainees undergo a booking process, which includes a background check, mugshot, and scheduling of their arraignment at the Los Angeles Superior Court. Misdemeanor cases are usually heard by a judge the following business day, while felony cases, including those related to domestic violence, DUI accidents, or criminal threats, are generally addressed within two business days. During this time, the detainee will remain in custody at Lancaster Jail.
