LAPD Metro Station Jail Location – The LAPD Metro Station Jail, also known as the Metro Division, is a key facility within the Los Angeles Police Department. Established in 1989 and formerly called the “Glass House” Parker Center Jail, this facility houses inmates in two- and four-person cells. The Metro Division primarily holds pre-trial and pre-sentence detainees, as well as holdover inmates. After an arrest, detainees are taken through a booking process that includes fingerprinting, background checks, and a mugshot. Arraignments are scheduled at the Los Angeles Superior Court, with misdemeanor cases typically heard the following business day and felony cases (such as domestic violence, DUI, or criminal threats) addressed within two business days. Detainees generally remain at the Metro Station Jail for no longer than 48 hours.

If an inmate requires extended detention, they may be transferred to larger county facilities, such as Men’s Central Jail for male detainees, or the Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) for female detainees

What Happens During an Arraignment in Court at the Metropolitan Detention Center?

  • Reading of Charges and Rights Explanation: The defendant is informed of the charges they face and advised of their legal rights, including the right to an attorney.
  • Plea Entered: The defendant pleads guilty, not guilty, or no contest. A guilty plea may
lead to sentencing, while not guilty means the case moves to trial.
  • Bail Hearing: The judge sets bail or release conditions, including potential release on own recognizance (OR), where the defendant promises to return for court dates without paying bail.

These are the typical steps, but additional proceedings may occur depending on the case, such as a decision to decrease or increase the bail amount. For more information about how bail works, visit the Big Boy Bail Bonds homepage.
